Jerah Templo, Neo-Soul Singer

The X Factor’s Jerah Templo Comes Into Her Own With Self-Produced Single, “Together Nothing’s Gonna Fall”

Soul/Blues/Pop singer and newly minted songwriter Jerah Templo has released the single “Together Nothing’s Gonna Fall”, which headlines her first independent album of all-original tracks. The album boasts an impressive ensemble of collaborators, which includes Paula Alcasid, Gino Aguas, Mic Llave, and Keith Martin.

Manila, PHILIPPINES (Dec. 10, 2013) – A standout finalist on “The X Factor Philippines”, neo-soul singer Jerrianne Mae “Jerah” Templo has just released her first self-written and independently produced single, “Together Nothing’s Gonna Fall”. Arranged and co-produced by American hit maker Keith Martin, the song headlines Jerah’s first record due for launch early next year.

Released on iTunes and Amazon.com on Nov. 12, 2013, “Together Nothing’s Gonna Fall” showcases Jerah Templo’s strong but soulful voice, which gained widespread praise on “The X Factor”. The international singing sensation Charice was describing her singing as “fierce and sensitive”. It was evident then that unlike many reality-show singing competitors and local artists, Jerah Templo is an elegant, expressive singer — a refreshing talent to counter mainstream pop.

The single is the fruition of years-worth of honing her skill via various contests, most notably GMA-7’s “Search for a Star” and ABS-CBN’s “X Factor”. Her steady career singing soul, blues, pop, and contemporary R&B in the live music circuit, which includes performances at The Mandarin Hotel’s Martinis Bar, Solaire Resort & Casino and The Peninsula Manila’s Salon de Ning, has helped define her sound. Meanwhile, her struggles growing up with very modest income, many career setbacks, and, finally, personal achievements as a wife and stepmom serve as the inspiration.

In fact, “Together Nothing’s Gonna Fall” is a narrative of beating the odds. Although written originally for her husband, the poignant song timely echoes the challenges that lay ahead for the survivors of super typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda in the Philippines. The tragedy has prompted Ms. Templo to dedicate it to those devastated, and donate a portion of the profit from iTunes and Amazon.com to their families.

“Together Nothing’s Gonna Fall” is the first single of Jerah’s soon-to-be-released album. The record will have 10 original tracks expressing her music: crossover “dirty” blues, soul, and pop. It features an impressive ensemble of collaborators, such as songwriter Paula Alcasid, and arrangers Gino Aguas, Mic Llave, and Keith Martin. This first track was executive-produced by Patrick Ritter, with Dante Tanedo as the sound engineer. It was launched with a music video directed by Win Ferrer of Sophia Photography.

Jerah Templo’s first original single is available for a listen on www.youtube.com/jerriannetemplo. It can be purchased on iTunes and Amazon.com.

For the latest news and upcoming performances, follow Ms. Templo on her official website at www.jerahtemplo.com and on www.facebook.com/jerahtemplo.

About Jerah Templo:
Jerrianne Mae Templo Ritter — known onstage as Jerah Templo — is a unique talent amid the local music scene, owing to her expressive, sexy, and soulful sound rarely encountered in mainstream entertainment. She started her singing career at the age of 12 in GMA-7’s "Search for a Star", where she went all the way to the Grand Finals. After battling with pneumonia she acquired when the competition wrapped up, Jerah bounced back with the Coro Cantabile Master Chorus. With the group, she toured through Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong, and performed for Gary Valenciano’s concert, “Rebirth”. On the side, Jerah is an accomplished scuba diver. She had worked as an underwater/adventure guide in Bohol.

In 2011, Jerah lent lead vocals to the house remix album "Dirty Party", published by the Japanese music label LD&K and produced by Gerry Diwa of Sound Weavers in Makati, Philippines. The record reached number 6 in the Japanese charts in September that year. Jerah has also performed with her own band at Salon de Ning at The Peninsula Manila and Martinis Bar in The Mandarin Hotel. In 2012, Jerah was selected as a finalist in ABS-CBN’s “The X Factor Philippines”, with team Charice. Aside from Charice, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, and Pilita Corrales were judges of the show, and all had showered praise on Jerah’s “fierce” but “sensitive” singing.

Fresh from the heels of “The X Factor”, Jerah began to write and produce her own songs, collaborating with notable arrangers, engineers, and instrumentalists. Her first full-length album is set for release early 2014.

CINEMAJAM2013

I ended my November with a BANG! and welcomed December with another BANG! Which made me BANGag. (nye! LOL)

But I just had the best outdoor movie and music experience thanks to Essilor Philippines.

I love the goodies inside the loot bag! And it was so nice of Crizal Transitions to include the program's time table to guide the people. They gave the bags at the entrance with smiles, so you kinda get into the happy mood, getting ready for what they prepped for us.

(Mini Fan, Baller, Flash Drive, Shirt, Programme & Map)

(Chen - Lead guitar, Eunice - Vocals, Jazz - Bass, EJ - Drums)

Gracenote started the fun with their songs and covers. I must say, Gracenote's fan base was really something. Gracians were all support to the band, with screams and banners. I even got to know some of them through my sister, also part of the GN fandom. They were very nice and friendly. Makes me want to meet more of them and start hanging out in one of their gigs.

(Gracians. That girl in blue is my sissy)

After GN's set, we explored the place and grabbed those free popcorn from Ideal Vision and bottled water from Police Eyewear, even joined Air Asia's raffle. Ideal Vision also gave some VIP cards that entitles the bearer to a 20% discount on their regular items and 10% discount on Sale items PLUS Php100 GC! Yey! We just had to participate in their marketing activities, aka liking their FB pages. Easy! And because we were enjoying everything at the back while Moonstar88 was playing, we didn't get to take photos! We were so into freebies and activities, that we just enjoyed the moment and appreciate Cinemajam.

(Itchyworms)

When Itchyworms took over the stage, we started to make our own space in preparation for the movie screening. Everyone was singing along to the songs, rocking in their own way while comfortably seated/lying with the many bean bags prepared just for the event.

(Yes, that's Itchyworms on stage performing.)
(Me, Angel, and Ate)
The screen was really commendable. High definition and the viewing were much more enjoyable than the 2d movies screened in some theatres.

Limitless is a 2011 American film by Neil Burger based on the 2001 novel The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn.
Love Actually is a 2003 British Christmas-themed romantic comedy film by Richard Curtis which delves into different aspect of love.

The crowd was in a very cozy mode for the movie, others are laid-back and some are just seated.

(Nightmode)
(Nightmode)

A game was played after the movie screening with dvds as prizes.

(Warren here won a RED2 dvd)
And from cozy.. to party! Callalily made everyone get up from slouch, and sing along with their songs.
(The crowd as Callalily went up the stage.)

(Kean Cipriano of Callalily)

(Warren, Renz, Me and Angel as we enjoy Callalily's set.)
Just as we thought, we couldn't just chill and enjoy the music seated as Bamboo started singing. No one stayed seated, and everyone got up and started rocking with Bamboo. The crowd went wild as Bamboo sings. We were all just singing and dancing into his music.

And of course, the fangirl in me just couldn't stop. Everyone is so hyped by Bamboo's powerful performance.

(Ate and Me as we fangirl over Bamboo.)
(Me and my friends, photo op with Bamboo. lol)
We still have many photos partying with Bamboo, but I think keeping it safe in Facebook is better than posting it here. Crazy faces and poses were captured as we're all under Bamboo's spell.

Cinemajam didn't end with Bamboo's awesomeness. DJ Ace Ramos fueled the party animals in the crowd and made everyone turn into dancing machines as he start playing the hottest pop songs. And in that moment, more and more crazy photos were taken. LOL

(DJ Ace Ramos)
All in all, Cinemajam was a success! It was the best outdoor movie and music festival of the year. My only regrets was me not being able to try Bungee jumping. I even promised myself to finally do it here in Cinemajam! Perhaps in Cinemajam2014 instead?

This was all made possible by Crizal Transitions, Essilor Philippines. Huge huge thanks to TicketWorld Manila, and to my fellow #TWIstas that I came with.

DIY Portable Stove & Can opening without can-opener

You don't know what and when the calamity will hit you and your family. The only thing we can do is be prepared and know the survival 101 of life.

As the Typhoon Haiyan came and disrupts many lives in the Philippines, I found some interesting DIY that would help the affected people in Visayas region of RP. These 2 DIY is also a must try in camping.

DIY PORTABLE STOVE
You'll need:
1. Empty drink in can (Aluminum)
2. Knife, preferrably pocket knife
3. Rubbing Alcohol

I found this DIY in Vimeo by Tom Allen. Watch the video until the end to learn all the necessary tricks for your own portable stove.

HOW TO OPEN A CAN WITHOUT CAN-OPENER
You'll need:
1. Can that you will open
2. Concrete
3. Towel

Be careful as you open the can for the edges will be sharp. I suggest to wipe off the dirt from the can using a towel before pushing the lid. The least thing we need is a dirty food from the can.

The video below is by CrazyRussianHacker from their zombie survival series. Watch other videos from them to be prepared for the zombie invasion.

A little knowledge on some survival tips wouldn't hurt. So share away people!

THE PRODUCERS by Repertory Philippines

KEEP IT FUNNY! KEEPT IT SUNNY! KEEP IT GAY!

One Friday night, I died in laughter. After successfully passing the 'zombie apocalypse' in LRT 1 and MRT just to catch the opening night of THE PRODUCERS by Repertory Philippines, little did I know that it would suck all the stamina left in me after the show. People inside the theater couldn't stop laughing from the hilarious banters on stage.

How often would you see a dancing and singing Adolf Hitler? With ladies on stage walking with giant sausages and pretzels on their heads? Springtime for Hitler was supposed to be a total flop! But hey, people liked it, and even loved it! So where did they go right?

You need to watch the show for you to know! My girlfriends and I really enjoyed this musical. We went straight to Greenbelt 1 Onstage after our 6pm class and ran off with the zombie crowd at the train station to make it on time for the 8pm show. But it was all worth it! We ended our stressful week with laughters.

You love watching movies, I know. And listening to music is definitely one of your hobbies too. Hey, who doesn’t love movies/music anyway? It saved someone’s life at some point in time. But aren’t you tired of staying at home the whole day stuck with your laptop in a dark room which isolates you from everyone? Plus it hurts your eyes as you crawl out of your ‘safe haven’ to the other parts of the house which brims with full sunshine. (Ouchy eye!)
