Mad World 2014: SELFIE

Attended by 4000 Marketing students coming from all over the Philippines, Philippine Junior Marketing Association has once again brought together the new wave of Marketing students and gave them the best marketing treat last February 2 at SMX Convention Center.

The conference Mad World is being held annually and materialized by the efforts of PJMA, which constitutes a set of Marketing students from different universities to lead all the Junior Marketing Associations of different chapters in our country. With the guidance coming from the Philippine Marketing Association and In partnership with one of the leading integrated communications agencies in the Philippines, Havas Media Ortega, PJMA pulled off another successful MadWorld2014 with the theme of “Selfie: How to create a meaningful personal brand.”

The speakers present are all the best in their field. Mr. Paul John Pena, Head of Integration and Branding Communications at Globe Telecom, showed how students can start branding themselves in social media by teaching the do’s and dont's for an aspiring marketing professional.

Dra. Vicki Belo, the CEO and Medical Director of Belo Medical Group joined the young marketers and shared how she started branding herself.

Mr. Tony Sarmiento, Managing partner and chief collaborator of Havas Media Ortega was also there to teach that everyone can work their way to success if you know how to play well with opportunities.

God's Graces

I am so grateful with the Lord’s presence in my life which filled me with the warm blanket of His love. Especially for the past week, God’s presence is so visible and heartfelt.

Jan 21, Tuesday – Tatay is safe.

The thing that I am most thankful for to God is my Father’s safety after the car accident in Saudi. Being away from him is hard enough, and knowing that I can’t be beside him in times like this is even harder not just for me, but for our whole family. To nurse him, and be with him as he get well from the wounds and trauma that the accident had caused him is just what I really want right now.  But I trust in the Lord’s mercy and I know that He’s guiding love won’t make my Tatay go through anymore hardship.

Jan 22, Wednesday – Graduation Feels and WICKED.

Me graduating started to finally sink in after this seminar. A few more months and I will be released in the wild real life. Feelings of fear and excitement are what I have for my future career. Will I do well in Marketing, my first love?

TicketWorld Student Ambassadors.

A Broadway musical added new FEELS in my day. Thanks to TicketWorld, I was one of the first to see Wicked in Manila.  I and some of my fellow Student Ambassadors were given the chance to see the technical dress rehearsal of Wicked, and I was super super lucky to get a seat in the orchestra center. I was in total amazement of the whole production. I would have easily mistaken it for the real performance and not just the run-through. The stage setup, the music, the whole ensemble, everything was fabulous and amazing! Hello? This is Wicked! The Broadway’s biggest blockbuster!! I just had so many feels even after days of watching it. The friendship, the love, the whole message of Wicked just pierced through me and I think it would take long before I can recover from being Greenified. I love Suzie Mathers! I love her! She’s so amazing on stage and I love her Galinda, her Glinda. I fancy Suzie so much that I did some research and read every interview and articles about her. I hope I can meet her again during her stay here in Manila. I love Suzie!! Suzie <3

Marketista’s Challenge: Brain Brawl. Tatay, this is for you!! I joined this quiz bee without preparation. I didn’t even get to study so much and just scanned through some lectures from last semester’s Marketing Management and this term’s E-Marketing. Good thing I learned so much and listened well in Ms. Anne’s discussion. She’s really good in educating and I think she made a right decision to follow the academe’s calling. I guess God sent me the Holy Spirit and is just with me because I was calm and clear minded the whole contest. I was even more blessed to be grouped with very remarkable young marketers of AdU. Thank you to the Panelists who recognized my effort in the case study and given me an individual excellence award. Really, Champion? I did not really expect that. Thank you AdJMA for the Medal and limited edition of AdJMA tumbler, to Mr. Julius with his sincerity through minions, and the 3 thousand pesos <3

Thesis Writing -- Almost over!!

That satisfying feeling of finally ending that long hours of eye-to-eye contact with your word document and waiting to miraculously appear the perfect combination of words, which you hope be included with rhymes to finish off your paper.

Defense is three sleeps away, or should I say 3 more sleepless nights, and I’m already feeling the rush of finally seeing the end of this chapter. I am really thankful for my partner who did not gave up on me, and kept her wits with her while I lose mine. I am truly blessed to be paired to someone as understanding as you, Aprielle. (Why does it feels like I’m writing the acknowledgement here??)

Anyway, it is still too early to celebrate. BUT I AM CLAIMING THIS. We will pass this Thesis. Me, together with my partner Aprielle, will graduate with you, amazing Marketers of tomorrow, MM401! (Of course, I wouldn’t let my graduation pictorial be of waste, I paid 500 bucks for that make up!! LOL)
